At Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a lonely o'hia tree stands out against the Milky Way in the middle of the night. O'hias are the first tree to take root in freshly-cooled lava after an eruption, so in this photo I am attempting to capoture a sense of new life against the backdrop of ancient skies.
